Ingrid de Kok

Ingrid de Kok has written 8 volumes of poetry. These include a translation of a selection of her work into Italian by Paola Splendore, and Vetplant Fairies, a collaboration on an illustrated book of children’s poems with Antjie Krog and Fiona Moodie. Her most recent book is Unleaving, Fourthwall Books, 2024. Her work has been translated into Afrikaans, Dutch, Italian, German, French, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Japanese and French.

Recent activities

Unleaving, her new collection of poemswas launched in Nov 2024 at Love Books, Johannesburg, and at a Red Wheelbarrow sponsored co-launch with the poet Karen Press in Cape Town. In Dec 2024 it was launched at The Forge, Kalk Bay. In Johannesburg and Kalk Bay Ingrid was accompanied by composer and musician Neo Muyanga, photographed below:

Vetplant Fairies, Ingrid’s collaboration with Antjie Krog and Fiona Moodie, was awarded the Tienie Hollaway prize in 2024. Unleaving won the AVBOB inaugural JP de Lange prize in 2025.

Ingrid was interviewed by writer Antjie Krog at the Franschhoek Festival 2025; she also participated there in a reading performance with Malika Ndlovu, Antjie Krog and Siphokasi Jonas. In 2025 she read at On the Bay Festival, Simonstown and at Woordfees, Stellenbosch.
